The Scholarly Pursuit of Modern Rock & Roll: A Vocation of Analog Prowess and Digital Refinement
My career has been dedicated to mastering the techniques required to craft a modern Rock and Roll record. My education provided hands-on experience with analog boards and outboard gear, enabling me to build a substantial personal collection of high-quality equipment. I have handled production and recording work for countless bands across a wide spectrum of genres, including Classic Rock, Indie-Rock, Southern Rock, and Surf. I am constantly refining my skills, integrating state-of-the-art digital plug-ins to ensure my studio is current and versatile. Simultaneously, I continue to utilize classic vintage analog equipment, such as tape machines and microphones, to maintain a timeless and authentic sound.

Psychedelic Rock Production
Calico Mantra
This formidable sonic collective, situated in Nashville, Tennessee, manifested a vibrant psychedelic rock endeavor. The entirety of the recorded works were meticulously captured and engineered utilizing analogue mechanism and vintage electronic equipment within the confines of my private studio. This musical undertaking was, by its very nature, a collaborative achievement, involving the concerted efforts of every contributing member.
The foundational aesthetic sought a retro production, layered with ethereal psycho-acoustic flourishes and a generous application of temporal echoes and expansive spatial washes. This technique was married to the formidable sonorities of the Seventies' hard rock movement, resulting in colossal guitar textures and voices of impressive altitude and emotive timbre. The full-length album is presented across all digital platforms for public enjoyment.

For this production, I steered the artistic direction toward a contemporary and spirited Indie Rock and Alternative aesthetic. The artist demonstrated admirable self-reliance by undertaking the entirety of the recording process. My specific charge involved the meticulous mixing and mastering of the resultant tracks, wherein my primary focus was the assurance of clarity, precision, and a perfectly balanced dynamic range throughout the whole work.
The mastering process was executed with a blend of time-honored technique and modern ingenuity. To impart a desirable and organic warmth to the production, I first passed the work through my analogue tape machine, thereby achieving a natural and pleasing tape saturation. Following this essential step, I employed sophisticated digital plug-ins to elevate the work to the requisite volume standards for modern, professional streaming platforms. This involved the judicious application of limiters for peak control, vintage-style equalizers and compressors to shape the tonal quality, and the scrupulous removal of any harsh or unwelcome frequencies that might mar the listening experience.

Surf Rock / Psychedelic / Retro Mixing
Sinister Surfer
I conducted the full mixing and mastering for this project, deliberately cultivating a retro 1960s/70s Los Angeles surf rock aesthetic, imbued with the distinctive, dark spirit of The Doors. The production prominently showcases my command of psychedelic effects and tone, achieved via analogue-style plug-ins. While prioritizing clarity, the mix pushes for transportive effects through the judicious application of reverbs and delays from my Roland Space Echo, occasionally introducing moments of dub reggae rhythm. I further manipulated tape machine emulations for expanded delay capabilities, enhancing the psychedelic nature of the mix. The final master was pressed through a reel-to-reel machine to impart a maximum degree of vintage coloration.

Southern Rock Sound
Hippies and Cowboys Fork in the Road EP
I had the distinct honour of engaging in a musical collaboration with the Nashville ensemble, Hippies and Cowboys. My ambition in this endeavour was to infuse their repertoire with the vibrant spirit of southern rock and soul that characterized the 1960s and 1970s. Our collective efforts culminated in a distinctive sound, drawing deep inspiration from the revered studios of Muscle Shoals and the influential works of bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Marshall Tucker Band. To achieve an authentic sonic presentation, meticulous attention was paid to the utilization of analog gear, vintage guitars, and a raw recording process, thereby ensuring the resulting EP possessed an audial patina straight out of that cherished decade. Upon this recording, my contributions were manifold, holding the positions of guitarist, co-producer, and songwriter.
