My Musical Evolution
From Electric Reverie to Global Harmony
My earliest serious guitar studies were rooted in an examination of the styles of such influential players as Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. Both had a profound and undeniable effect on my own development as a musician. This early passion naturally led to the formation of my own rock bands, affording me the opportunity to perform professionally.
After many years devoted to the composition of rock music and the thorough study of all its guitar forms my interests broadened. I began to explore other musical genres entirely.
This expansion led me to embrace new styles like Samba, Bossa Nova, and other forms of Latin music. These disciplines revealed novel and inventive ways to employ chords and progressions, aiding me in the rediscovery of my Brazilian roots. Similarly, the study of Jazz proved vital, encouraging me to be more experimental, enhancing my melodic sense, and impressing upon me the importance of maintaining an open mind.
Upon graduating from the music school, I emerged a more capable player and a more thoughtful composer. Through my continued work, jamming with various groups, I have learned the value of letting go to the unknown and the inexplicable. It seems this is the very source of true art, and that improvisation holds the key to honest songwriting, a form of expression drawn straight from the earth.
My current focus is to diligently tap into this creative wellspring and draw inspiration for all my future musical endeavors and guitar collaborations.
